BUBBLES (1994)

Of bubbles, science has been proud 
and great informant to us,
but don't just think
get in the sink
for wonders in meniscus.

Dip your loop beneath the gloop,
prepare to load and raise it-
not too thick
and not too thin.
Be careful now, don't waste it.

Inflate that bubble, make it big;
your squidgy,
floaty birth.
A nipple on the underside
that points to Mother Earth.

Some do pop and some do drop.
Some never make the grade.
Others rise
upon the wind. Hey!
Check this one I made.

Observe your soft transparent orb,
its perfect, liquid skin;
rainbow storms
like Jupiter,
a universe in spin.

One's never too old to play this game,
you need not fear this sphere.
Though in pursuit
of perfect peace
you do need to beware:

Caution who you share yours with,
so many are in thirst
to pierce creation
at its source,
and then your bubble's burst.
