The Way It Is Out West (©2013 John T. Windle)
One conscious crack of the whip.
Life extinguished with one slip.
Mouth to mouth and selfish genes.
Testosterone runs religions.
His stories.
Can’t take too much more of this;
pre-emptive strike casualties,
corpses corporations saw,
contracted and shrouding laws
because they control the doors.
Making friends,
the innate sense of children.
Then ancestor chains
of programming
to doubt their brethren.
Adults growing up with fear.
Whistle blowing making clear.
Ponzi economic models.
Loyalties eroding morals.
No, no, no more loans.
Sublime to ridiculous,
clichés mumbled in dry lips.
Politicians preening more.
Grooming of gentleman whores.
I’m so, so very bored.
History judges kings and factions.
Coliseums and cathedrals
just tourist attractions.
Solutions abound in the rough;
grassroots goodness, basic love.
Kindness chances everyday.
Not so cool and not so tough.
And what’s your other way?
